IS 59: Playyard Renovation

Working closely with the School,  Semmens Associates developed a re-design for the entire existing playyard at IS 59 Queens.   The 1.5 acre playyard was re-imagined as a series of multi-function use areas, including active recreation (play courts, synthetic turf mini field, and 100 meter track), passive recreation (game tables),  outdoor classroom / amphitheater,  dedicated exercise space,  and a gathering space within a tree grove.  Arched fence elements and re-purposing the existing handball wall allowed multiple activities to occur concurrently.
